This Title 1 school serves 350 students (grades Pre-K through 5) and the 52 staff members, including Principal Kristie Edwards and Vice Principal Allen Richardson, often use their own personal funds to cover school supplies, field trips, clothing, food and technology for students.
The staff and students could not believe their eyes when Mrs. Obama and Ellen’s elves arrived complete with computer equipment for the lab, teachers and students and revealed plans to install a brand-new basketball court. Additionally, Mrs. Obama surprises the school with $100,000! Truly, 2019 will be the holiday they never forget.
Then, Jennifer Aniston joined Ellen in studio to surprise the Kimball family from Westport, Conn. The family lost their mom to cancer years earlier and single dad Jeff recently lost his job. Daughter Elyse secretly submitted a video to Ellen about how amazing their dad is and how they really need a little help this year. To boost their holiday spirit, Ellen and Aniston surprise the family by decorating their house and leaving $20,000 worth of Christmas gifts under their tree, in addition to a $150,000 and a trip to Europe worth $75,000 from Green Dot Bank.
Aniston then shared some spectacular presents with the audience, including a $500 Visa gift card from Gift Card Mall, the Hydrow Live Outdoor Reality Rower and a six-month Hydrow subscription, Samsonite luggage and a very exciting trip to Abu Dhabi, complete with a roundtrip ticket on Etihad Airways and a five-night stay at Yas Island.
And finally, Sterling K. Brown surprised Los Angeles “sign spinner” Rico El-lis, whose artful spinning has gone viral. El-lis spoke with Sterling about how he loves putting a smile on people’s faces with his spinning, but he often travels hours on city transit for his work. Sterling surprised him with a Ford Mustang of his own, which will certainly change his life for the better.
Then later when El-lis joined everyone in studio, Ellen had an even bigger, life-changing surprise for him when she offered him a job on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and a $100,000 from Green Dot Bank to get him started saving for his future.
The second night of “Ellen’s Greatest Night of Giveaways” airs tomorrow, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT featuring Robert Downey Jr., Melissa McCarthy and Taylor Swift along with Stephen and Ayesha Curry as well as audience gifts with Chrissy Teigen.
